Keeping Tabs on the Enemy

January 28th, 2009 by admin | 0 comments

It’s a battle out there these days.  So many other good houses are on the market competing with yours.  Why have some sold while some haven’t?  Is it the listing agent?  The wallpaper?  The kitchen appliances?

The answer could be all of the above, but the truth is that you really might have no clue!

Unless you choose to find out for yourself!

It’s time to channel your inner spy.  That’s right.  Go ahead and call your real estate agent and schedule a showing for your home’s competition.  It may be a house down the street or it may be the one around the corner.  It may be one house but it may be five or so.

This is important research because you know that anyone that looks at your house, as a prospective purchase, is probably going to look at the other ones in the neighborhood.  You need to know they stack up to  yours.  This will give you a valuable advantage over your competitors since you already know where your home falls short, but more importantly, you’ll know about it’s advantages and you can work hard to highlight them.

It’s a war out there for sellers these days and you should take every possible opportunity to gain an advantage.

Good luck out there!
