Green in Mount Pleasant and the Lowcountry
January 27th, 2010 by reggiefairchild | 0 commentsTonight, the Mount Pleasant Land Conservancy held an “eco-spiel” at WatersEdge Restaurant on Shem Creek. It was a chance for companies and people in Mount Pleasant and around the Lowcountry who are interested in green issues to network and exchange ideas.
As an environmental conscious real estate brokerage, we’re always interested in hearing how other companies are contributing to the community in an environmentally friendly way.
I heard about several cool initiatives…
- The Mission of the Mount Pleasant Land Conservancy is to enhance the quality of life for all East Cooper residents through education and preservation of open space by promoting protection, acquisition and stewardship of our land resources.
- GRO — Green Roof Outfitters - The GRO Modular system is the modern method of installing green roofs. This pre-planted system blends all of the environmental and economic benefits of green roofs with a simplistic method of installation and little maintenance.
- Sustainable Warehouse devotes much of its time to stripping reusable items from buildings that are about to undergo demolition or renovation. The salvaged items are then available for sale to builders and to the public.
- DwellSmart’s mission is to help protect and improve the health of individuals and the environment. They work to fulfill this mission by selling a wide variety of low impact product. They sell everything from eco cleaners to low VOC paint to sustainable flooring.
A bunch of other interesting folks with interesting goals were also in attendance.
