Location: Folly Beach

Welcome to the self proclaimed Edge of America!
Folly Beach is one of the most unique and funky places you will ever visit. Located past the southwestern end of James Island, this barrier beach also acts as the southern part of the opening to Charleston Harbor.
Folly is a beach town in the truest sense of the word. There is a small commercial district with restaurants, bars, and shops. Flip flops are appropriate attire in any of them.
The surfing conditions are considered to be among the best in the southeast and the beaches are clean and unadulterated.
As far as real estate goes, you will see a little bit of everything at Folly Beach. Like much of Charleston, prices ballooned on Folly in the mid 2000's but thanks to the recession, you might be surprised at what you can get for your money today! Starting in the $200K’s, you find yourself with a basic condo just off the main part of the beach island. It would be tough to walk to the beach from here. Up your range to $350K or so and you can start getting into a small, classic beach cottage. To get onto the first or second row, you’ll be looking at prices close to $1 Million and up.
The Morris Island lighthouse is a historically recognized landmark on the northeastern tip of the beach. Erosion seriously threatened it over the years but through aggressive conservation efforts the lighthouse stands today as a beautiful symbol of Folly Beach.
