West Ashley’s name denotes it’s location; West of the Ashley River.  This sprawling suburb has a little something for everyone.  There are sections of spectacular waterfront property with easy access to the harbor, small, affordable condos and everything in between.

The section of West Ashley that is just over the bridge from Downtown Charleston is the older, more established part of town. Avondale and Byrnes Down are good examples of trendy, older neighborhoods within 5-10 minutes of downtown but also almost walking distance to local West Ashley hot spots such as Voodoo Lounge and Al Di La.  Hop in the car for about five minutes and you'll find yourself in range of local favorites like the Blue Rose Cafe and the Early Bird Diner.  Try the pancakes!

Along the banks of the Ashley River, you’ll find homes offering spectacular Lowcountry views.  Some homes and neighborhoods even offer docks or ramp access.   It’s an easy trip out to the Harbor from most West Ashley neighborhoods.

Further out in West Ashley, past I-526, you’ll find a nice selection of newer neighborhoods offering more space, amenities and modern touches.  

Some notable neighborhoods in this part of West Ashley are Shadowmoss, Hunt Club, and Grand Oaks.
